NOTICE OF MEETING TO ADOPT 2022-23 BUDGET AND CONDUCT PUBLIC HEARING

NOTICE is hereby given, pursuant to RCW 28A.505.050 and RCW 28A.505.060, that the Board of Directors (the “Board”) of Goldendale School District No. 404, Klickitat County, Washington (the “District”) will hold a Public Hearing and Special board meeting with Board action following regarding the adoption of the 2022-23 Budget on July 11, 2022, commencing at 6:30 PM in the Primary School Library, 520, E Collins, Goldendale WA.  The meeting is called for the purpose of fixing and adopting the budget and MSOC disclousre of the District for the ensuing 2022-23 fiscal year.  Prior to adoption of the 2022-23 budget, the Board will hold a hearing for the purpose of receiving comments from the public on the 2022-23 budget.  Any person may appear at the hearing and be heard for or against any part of the 2022-23 budget, the four-year budget plan, or any proposed changes to uses of enrichment funding under RCW 28A.505.240.  Upon conclusion of the hearing, the Board shall fix and determine the appropriation from each fund contained in the 2022-23 budget and shall, by resolution, adopt the 2022-23 budget, the four-year budget plan summary, and the four-year enrollment projection.  2022-23 budget information is available at the District Office.

The Klickitat County Board of Health is accepting applications for one citizen member to serve on its board for a two year

appointment. To qualify for this position applicants must meet one of the following criteria:

1. Consumers of public health. This category consists of county residents who have self-identified as having faced significant health inequities or as having lived experiences with public health-related programs such as: The special supplemental nutrition program for women, infants, and children; the supplemental nutrition program; home visiting; or treatment services. It is strongly encouraged that individuals from historically marginalized and underrepresented communities are given preference. These individuals may not be elected officials and may not have any fiduciary obligation to a health facility or other health agency, and may not have a material financial interest in the rendering of health services.

2. Other community stakeholders. This category consists of persons representing the following types of organizations located in the county:

(A) Community-based organizations or nonprofits that work with populations experiencing health inequities in the county;

(B) Active, reserve, or retired armed services members;

(C) The business community; or

(D) The environmental public health regulated community.

The Klickitat County Fair Board is accepting bids for box seats in the grandstands for the 2022 Fair & Rodeo. Each box will be furnished with six (6) chairs and require a minimum bid of $75.00. PUBLIC DEFENSE SERVICES for 2023-2024

Klickitat County is seeking proposals, together with statements of qualifications from qualified attorneys to represent, advise, defend in court and provide legal assistance to indigents before the Superior Court of Klickitat County, Washington for the period of January 1, 2023 through December 31, 2024.  The County is seeking a minimum of 3 attorneys, individual submissions as well as group submissions are welcomed.  Services must be provided in accordance with Washington State Bar Association Standards for Indigent Defense Services, the Code of Professional Responsibility, and the best standards of the legal profession applicable to the matter.

WA State Department of Natural Resources (DNR)

DNR recently purchased a former elementary school in Dallesport, WA with the intent to convert it into a regional fire response center (Dallesport Regional Fire Response Center). The project includes some structural modifications of the existing building, parking lot patch and repair and restriping to include ADA-compliant parking.

Washington State Department of Natural Resources issued a Determination of Non-significance (DNS) on March 22, 2022.  A copy of the DNS and related SEPA checklist is on file at the Klickitat County Planning Department.

The Klickitat County Board of Adjustment will hold a public hearing at its regular meeting on August 1, 2022 at 6 p.m. The meeting will be held both in person and virtually.

NOTICE OF PUBLIC COMMENT PERIOD EXTENSION

Due to requests from the public, the Department of Ecology is extending the comment period on the draft EIS for the proposed Goldendale Energy Project to end on Aug. 9, 2022.

FFP Project 101, LLC proposes to develop the Goldendale Energy Storage Project - a water storage system that will release water from an upper reservoir downhill to a lower reservoir to create energy. The hydropower project would generate about 1,200 megawatts of electricity to be integrated into the existing power grid, using existing infrastructure from the nearby John Day substation, in Oregon.
